Sixela Takes D.C.

If you know me you know one of my favorite shows is Scandal, well any scandalous political show really. But if I wasn't into Fashion I'd definitely want to be Olivia Pope. You know, fixing shit and looking bomb while doing it..

In my minimal travel experience I've noticed that I'd rather go to a destination and experience it as if I was a native versus being a tourist. Unless its tropical... I definitely want to be boujie af, at a all-inclusive 5 star resort. It just shows a different side of the city to me. So on my trip I was determined to experience things non touristy. Also my outfits I planned were not sight seeing friendly. Driving through the National Mall I was geeked but quickly disappointed that you can't drive by the White House. My shoes were not up for that walk lol

Might I add it was gloomy and tried to rain on my parade but Lisa and I ended up going to the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. This museum was so awesome the exhibits spoke to me in various ways.  The Barbara Kruger Beliefe +Doubt Exhibit was my favorite, it merged my love of typography and impactful words, questions and phrases. Take a peak at some of the other exhibits I fancied below...

I'm not sure about you but walking around a museum sure does work up an appetite. I am the most picky yet simple eater like I always want to try new things but end up with the simplest meal in the end. Lisa knows me and my love for aesthetics so she suggested that we go to Summer House Santa Monica in North Bethesda. I checked out their IG and was excited, the ambiance was everything. It was really a taste of Santa Monica in Maryland. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad and a oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was easily the best part of the meal... that's a totally biased statement taking into  account my insane sweet tooth .
