chooose your hard
In life you have two choices, hard and hard. the difference between the two is one elevates you and the other doesn't. the real tea is that on the onset the hard that doesn’t elevate you is disguised as the easier option but in the long run, you will reap the effects of instant gratification. while delaying gratification will actually allow you to live a more enjoyable life that actually serves you.
let’s discuss saving money as an example. When you get paid you already know you have to pay your bills and other adult-type things but the mass majority of us also make sure to add in a little treat for ourselves. more than likely that treat will be something that is instantly gratifying and the pleasure of experiencing it is gone as quickly or easily as it was obtained. on the other hand, you could choose to save the money you would typically spend and invest it into something that will eventually generate a return. therefore delaying gratification and also reaping a greater reward in the long run.
you see, if you switched your perspective to look at your life the same way you would money or any other thing that delaying gratification benefits then you would in no time have a more elevated life that serves your highest good. making the decision to always choose the hard that will serve you versus the hard that will lead to your detriment or demise will change your life in the best ways possible.
Here are some practical examples to practice choosing the hard serves you:
choose to wake up early and choose not to hit snooze - initially, it may feel good to sleep in but in the long run, you will have to deal with the negative effects such as tardiness, lethargy, and many other things.
choose to do that workout vs skipping a day - the more you push yourself to work out the more habitual it will become and in no time your mind body and soul will thank you.
choose to have a great day every day and not feed into waking up onto the wrong side of the bed. you get to decide how your day will go, you do not have to go along with negativity if that’s not what you want.
all in all, making the conscious effort to choose your hard is the only true way for you to control your life. the best way to get a grip on your own well-being is by taking responsibility for the things you are able to control and letting go of the things you cannot. the more you exercise this ability the easier it will become and in no time your life will be a beautiful reflection of you choosing the habits and rituals that serve you.
