Whatever, I'm Still Fabulous

Take a second, think of all of the things you love the most.... How far down on that list did "myself" come up? Or did it at all? Back when I was asked that "myself" didn't even come to my mind. Isn't that crazy... I'm the most important person in my life and I didn't even make it on my own list of things I loved.

Growing up I had so many self esteem issues and insecurities, looking back its disgusting. The saddest part is that it mainly came from family. Cookie cutter beauty standards, and being told that thinner was better, man it was a different time.

I remember my best friend asking me why I didn't love myself and it threw me off because those were words I never spoke. The fact that she could tell without me ever expressing that really bothered me; that was definitely not an energy I wanted to give off. There were so many factors that played a part into why I didn't love myself, I was determined to change that. From then on I set out to figure out why and started to the process of falling in love with myself.

I started staring at myself naked in the mirror and learn to like and appreciate what I'm blessed with. Eventually I begin to really feel myself, I would look in the mirror every morning and be like "Alexis, you are so bomb! God sure did take his time with you and you're not even done growing yet". Self affirmations helped me so much, I definitely had to fake it till I made it. But eventually I started to believe the words I spoke to myself.

1. BE NICE TO YOURSELF

Take care of yourself! Good hygiene, dress well, pamper yourself. Be your own best friend, there's so much negativity in the world you need to have your own back. Don't bash yourself, celebrate small victories.

2. WORK ON YOUR HEART

It's not all about appearance, work to have a pure heart because it will shine through you. People can feel and relate to a pure heart full of good intentions.

3. DON'T DO THINGS YOU DON'T WANT TO

Stand by your opinions, don't allow others to sway you so easily. Indulge in things you agree with or that make you happy.

4. VIBE WITH YOUR TRIBE

Filter out your inner circle, its about quality vs quantity. Do your girls uplift, encourage, motivate or inspire you? If not they don't need to be in your tribe.  Surround yourself with good energy, positive lights, people that want to see you win in every way.

I really hope this helps any of you who need help in loving yourself. Falling in love with yourself is truly a freeing experience you'll begin to look at yourself in a whole new light. From me to you good luck on your journey, its not easy but its so worth it. When in doubt think "Whatever, I'm Still Fabulous"
