six things 6.21

In this edition of six things, we are talking about all things reading. I am a book lover (hoarder) and have been for a couple of years now. I fell in love with reading back in 2018 when I started my self-development journey. What started as an escape from social media turned into a safe space for me to get lost and learn more about myself in a whole new way. Growing up I hated reading but I think was only because I was always told to do it. It’s so crazy how we find joy in the very things our younger selves would run away from as adults.

Whenever I feel overstimulated or too connected to the world, getting lost in a book brings me so much peace and not to mention a wealth of knowledge. As I am on my spiritual journey, reading has been one of those things that help me stay grounded and bring the most inspiration. My favorite thing to do is go to a thrift store and see gems I can come up with. A good $1 or $2 book will light me up the same way a kid receiving a lollipop would.

For the past six months, I’ve been very intentional about my book choices and what type of content I am choosing to consume. These six books I have listed below have been in rotation as I‘ve been traveling and prepping my mind for this new chapter of life. I’ve added links for you to add to your Amazon shopping cart and join me on this spiritual journey. (I will receive a lil % of commission for each purchase, so thank you in advance)

  1. To Hell with the Hustle: This book started a revolution within me, I found out about it on Pinterest, and when I tell yall it was so timely. I was gearing up for lent and I ordered this and made it a mission of mine to have this book anchor my fast. My fave takeaway from this book was to adopt the mindset of formations ( who am I becoming) versus goal setting ( what am I doing). This book inspired me so much and has changed the way I go about life. It even inspired my current challenge - Journey to my Higher Self.

  2. Unqualified: I just started this one and wheeeww it’s a good read. I often feel like the underdog and I just know that this book will inspire me to keep up the good fight and trust that God is truly moving in and through me.

  3. It’s All in Your Head: I heard about this one on Tiktok and I bought it immediately and finished it in less than a week. A great coffee table book, but also a great read overall. So many gems and little reminders that you have to truly believe in yourself to get where you want to go.

  4. You are Free: This is another book that I got to prepare for lent. Y’all this book is soo good and it’s literally one of those books that you have to chew on. It helped me release some of the harder things that no longer were serving me and truly tap in with God and begin to trust his timing. I truly felt FREE while taking my time with this book. I suggest getting a dedicated notebook for this one.

  5. Rich As Fuck: I bought this one at the end of 2020 to prepare me for 2021. This book is very good at helping you with a poverty mindset and money blocks. I am still working through this one but plan to restart it with a dedicated notebook to really do the work required.

  6. Rhythms of Renewal: I recently started this one and omg am I excited! Skimming through the pages and chapters is super exciting because it’s time for me to create a new routine and this is my guide to that. After all that I’ve been experiencing the past 6 months, this book is just what I need to prepare me to finish out the rest of the year with a level head.

Should you choose to read or have read any of them please let me know I’d love to chat and discuss perspectives. Thank you for your support!
